A sound experience or sound bath is a meditative experience where participants are immersed in sounds and vibrations produced by various instruments such as gongs, singing bowls, chimes and drums. These sounds aid relaxation, reduce stress and promote healing on physical, emotional and spiritual levels. During a sound bath session, participants typically lie down or sit comfortably while the sound practitioner plays the instruments in a way that encourages deep relaxation and a sense of calm. The vibrations resonate with the body's energy centres or chakras, helping to balance and restore overall wellbeing.
-
If you are looking to relax, meditate or simply experience the soothing sounds, you are welcome to participate in a Sound Bath, they are inclusive practices that aim to promote relaxation and wellbeing for all participants.
It is advisable to check with the facilitator if you have any specific medical conditions or concerns before attending. However, if you are pregnant in the first trimester, have a pace maker, thrombosis or suffer with sound induced epilepsy these sessions would not be suitable for you.
If you have a metal plate or tinnitus then you may experience some discomfort.

Sound Baths are beneficial for promoting relaxation, reducing stress and anxiety, improving concentration and focus, enhancing creativity, fostering self awareness and aiding in a deeper meditative state. The vibrations and sounds produced during a Sound Bath session can help realign and balance energy within the body and release trapped emotions, resulting in a sense of wellbeing and tranquility.
What should I wear?
We suggest comfortable loose clothing, yoga wear, leggings or your favourite lounge wear. Some of our Mansfield clients also like to bring eye masks.
Is a sound bath safe for everyone?
Sound baths are safe and beneficial for most people. However, if you have epilepsy, a pacemaker or are in your first trimester of pregnancy, we recommend consulting with your doctor before booking. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any specific health concerns.
What if I fall asleep or snore?
Falling asleep is a sign that your body is in a state of deep repair and desperately needed the rest. You will still receive the vibrational benefits of the sound waves even while sleeping. We provide a non-judgmental space where you can truly let go.
How often should I attend a sound bath?
While a single session can provide immediate stress relief, many people in Nottinghamshire attend monthly to maintain a balanced nervous system and support their ongoing mental health. Participants often leave feeling renewed, centred and deeply calm.

Reflexology is a non invasive complementary therapy based on the principle that specific points on the feet and hands correspond to different organs, systems and structures within the body.
Reflexology uses specialised "thumb and finger walking" techniques to apply targeted pressure to reflex zones to promote internal healing and balance.
Potential Health Benefits
Stress and anxiety reduction, pain management, improved sleep, circulation boost, the localised pressure helps improve blood flow, which can increase energy levels and aid the body in removing metabolic waste.
If you have ticklish feet, firm pressure from the reflexologist prevents the tickling sensation. Alternatively, hand reflexology would be recommended.
Is reflexology just a foot massage?
While it feels as relaxing as a massage, reflexology is a technical therapy. A foot massage focuses on relaxing muscles, whereas reflexology targets specific reflex maps to influence the health of internal organs and systems.
What happens during a session?
You will remain fully clothed, simply removing your shoes and socks. You’ll be invited to relax in our comfortable treatment chair or couch. We then use various techniques to work through the reflex zones of your feet or hands, adjusting pressure to suit your comfort level.
Can reflexology help with pregnancy?
Many women in Nottinghamshire use reflexology to manage morning sickness, backaches and swollen ankles. It is a wonderful way to prepare the body for labour, though we recommend waiting until after your first trimester and seek medical advice before booking a treatment.
Is it safe for everyone?
Reflexology is safe for almost everyone, from children to the elderly. However, it may not be suitable if you have active blood clots/Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), certain foot infections, or a recent foot injury. We always conduct a full consultation before your first treatment.

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique centred on the idea that a "life force energy" flows through the body. During a session, we use light touch or place the hands over the body, to help channel this energy, aiming to clear blockages and restore balance. While it is not a substitute for traditional medical treatment, it serves as a powerful complementary tool that activates the body’s parasympathetic nervous system to encourage a state of deep rest and natural recovery.
For your wellbeing, Reiki’s primary benefit lies in its ability to drastically reduce stress and anxiety. By quieting the mind and lowering cortisol levels, it often leads to improved sleep quality, emotional clarity and a greater sense of inner peace. People find it helps them process "stuck" emotions or manage the mental fatigue of daily life, creating a grounded foundation that allows the body and mind to function more harmoniously.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does a Reiki session feel like?
Most people feel a pleasant sensation of warmth or tingling as the energy moves, but some feel nothing at all. It is common to enter a state of deep meditation or even fall into a light sleep. Most importantly, you will leave feeling "lighter" and more grounded.
Do I need to undress?
Reiki is performed fully clothed. You will lie comfortably on a therapy bed while the practitioner lightly places their hands on or just above specific areas of your body (head, torso and back).
How is Reiki different from Crystal Therapy?
While both are energy therapies, Reiki uses the practitioner's hands to channel universal energy directly, whereas Crystal Therapy uses the specific vibrations of gemstones. Both are highly effective and they are often combined at Jeaneil Holistic Therapists, for an enhanced experience.
Can Reiki be used alongside medical treatments?
Reiki is a complementary therapy, meaning it works safely alongside conventional medicine and other holistic treatments like reflexology. It is often used in hospitals and hospices worldwide to support patient comfort.

What does an Usui Reiki Session Feels Like
This is generally a very grounded and structured experience.
· Physicality: You’ll lie down (fully clothed) while we move through a series of specific hand positions, either lightly touching or placing our hands over your head, torso, back and legs.
· Sensation: Most people feel a distinct localised heat or a magnetic "pull" where our hands are placed. It feels like a warm, comforting battery recharge.
· The Mind: Your thoughts usually slow down into a "theta" state (that dreamy space between being awake and asleep). It is excellent for people who feel "scattered" and need to feel physically centred.
What an Angelic Reiki Session Feels Like
This tends to feel more ethereal and expansive.
· Physicality: Jean or Neil stay in one spot (often sitting or standing behind your head or holding your shoulders) for the entire session. We aren't "doing" as much physically because we are holding a meditative space.
· Sensation: Instead of localised heat, you might feel a full-body shift in temperature or a sense of "weightlessness." People often report seeing colours or geometric shapes.
· The Mind: It can feel like a deep journey. You might have sudden insights or "downloads" about your life path. It’s less about physical relaxation (though that happens) and more about a profound emotional or spiritual release.
As practitioners of both Reiki styles, we’ve found that Angelic Reiki channels a particularly strong energy, which may help support your body’s natural healing process more quickly.
